Advanced Embryology techniques were learnt at the Pacific Fertility Center San Francisco.
He further obtained Fellowship training in Sexual Medicine from Dr Irwin Goldstein eminent Urologist and the past Editor of The Journal of Sexual Medicine at the San Diego Sexual Medicine Center, San Diego, California.
Training included evaluation, investigations and treatment of Men and Women with sexual dysfunction with emphasis on Erectile Dysfunction in men and Sexual pain disorders in women.

Having trained extensively in Sexual Medicine in the United States, Dr. Karthik was keen on expanding his knowledge base to Europe as well.
The European Society of Sexual Medicine(ESSM), is the premier body responsible for advancing the knowledge of sexual medicine throughout the world and particularly in Europe.
The Oxford school of Sexual Medicine, affiliated to ESSM conducts an annual course in Sexual Medicine.
In 2013 this course was held in Budapest, Hungary. Dr Karthik attended this exemplary course. The faculty comprised of experts in Sexual medicine drawn across Europe.

The syllabus was extensive and covered all aspects of sexual medicine especially pharmacological and psycological. It was attended by 30 members drawn from all over the world.
Dr Karthik due to his extensive training was awarded an ESSM grant to attend the course.
In Dr Karthik’s own words “It was a wonderful experience to interact with thought leaders in sexual medicine and to share knowledge with colleagues from different cultures and to understand what sex means to people across the world”.
Dr Karthik Gunasekaran recently was conferred with the title of Fellow of European Committee of Sexual Medicine(FECSM). This prestigious degree only held by a handful of people in the world was awarded after he sat for the exam conducted by The Multidisciplinary Joint Committee of Sexual Medicine held in Istanbul, Turkey, in Jan 2014 and successfully cleared it.
As an expert sex specialist in Chennai, he has been treating health concerns both in men and women. Dr. Karthik Gunasekaran understands that men seek health care much less than women and also do not voice their concerns as much. He feels that individualized attention coupled with enough time for them is mandatory which led him to start the “Metromale Clinic & Fertility Center”. He firmly believes that persistence is the key to fulfilling one’s dreams/desires and urges his fertility patients to not give up till they become a parent.

Dr Karthik Gunasekaran is an active Rotarian, a member of the Rotary Club of Madras T.Nagar and is involved with community work in Chennai and neighbouring suburbs. He is married to Dr. Manu and has two children, Sara and Arav. Time with family is of paramount importance and tops his priority list. Unwinding to him is sports, and running especially, is a way of life.
He is an active member of Chennai-based COOL RUNNERS and campaigns for fundraisers.
